Memory macbook

Hey
I have a Macbook from 2007, and currently i have 2gb memory installed in it. In the specification it only allows 2 gb memory.... my question is, if it is possible to put more than 2 gb memory in it, and if so, does it create any problems?

eMac OS X 10.4.11 1.25GB RAM 40GB original hard drive,
My guess is that since the system only allows 2GB of memory, it would just ignore whatever extra RAM you added in addition to the 2GBs and wouldn't function any differently.
But that's just a guess...

15" MBP '06 2.33 C2D 4GB 10.7; 13" MBA '14 1.8 i7 8GB 10.11; 21" iMac '13 2.9 i5 8GB 10.11; 6S
If it's a Jan thru Oct MacBook, you can put either 3 or 4 GB in the machine. It will only be able to use 3 GB. Putting 4 GB supposedly allows it to maintain it's dual channel capability.

The Nov-Dec MacBook , you can put up to 6GB.
