LCD~ Color distortion.

All of the colors in all of my art changed (everything shift to appear much brighter). I went to preferences and had no luck with correcting. Today I went to Best Buy, as soon as he plugged in to an external monitor all the colors corrected. Everything was fine for about 5 hours. Then I opened an art file and everything reverted back to the too bright incorrect colors.... Has anyone ever had this problem and how do I fix it?

What program did you open the file with? Does it have it's own color profile settings?
