Maybe just like having MF-MOTF, we could have a nomination and then poll on what your favorite open source/free software for mac is.

Edit: QS won lol , but i think this should be a software you like thread. it dosent matter if it is free or opensource but try not to list expensive programs. (200$ and up)

Actually, I just downloaded Quicksilver and I want to change my vote to that. Already I can see this thing completely changing the way I use my computer once I get used enough to it.

quicksilver by far

If you don't use this already take the time to get to know it. In it's simplest form it is an app launcher, in it's full form it does everything. I love it

Few tutorial pages

Quicksilver document page

And Merlin Mann from 43 folders did a podcast on Macbreak about quicksilver edisodes 12 and 17.

Adium is my most used and has crashed maybe 3 times since dec, but i dont complain about things that are free :)

so for me, for most usage

1. Adium (as i used trillian on PC as i got so many IM accounts makes it So easy)
2. VLC - great player for all!
3. Increase - a GUI for folding at home, makes it so easy to set up and control and monitor.

Well, it's time to try QuickSilver and Adium. I'm too new to have tried anything yet. Still exploring what I already had and my .Mac trial just ended too. So I'm ready for some other apps. Thanks for the info.

Give quicksilver a whirl... it is truly amazing! One of may favorite features is the Flickr Upload plug-in... You can upload a file to flickr in less than 30 seconds from snapping the image... and that hardly scratches the surface of what this software is capable of.

Hrm, I just noticed the limitation Quicksilver has in comparison with Spotlight, which is that it only indexes filenames of documents rather than their actual contents. Is there a way to make Quicksilver able to show me files that have certain words in the files themselves rather than in the filenames?

it's one of the only programs i haven't found that really stands alone. it is outstanding and nothing else besides perhaps terminal commands works as easily, flexibly, and assuredly.

SizzlingKeys has saved my sanity, better than QS which I used to have until I realised SpotLight can do what limited things I was already using QS for.

Best 3 Software on Earth are:

VoodooPad
GyazMail
CD Finder

I had to cut Camino... I found a bug on it. It wanted to print only the first page in a website. Had to open Safari to do the job!
