Macbook pro's battery does not charge over 35%

hello guys,

Since yesterday my macbook pro 17 ' is not charging the battery over 35% and says the battery takes 20 hours to fully charge but he wont! someone knows what is the problem and how to solve it?

Welcome to the forums ...

How old is that battery ?
As an initial activity, would it be possible to use the MBP on battery until such time the 10% battery warning comes up, then close the lid and let the battery drain completely.
( Can take another hour or so )

Then recharge the battery to it's full capacity.

Works on my machine .... although batteries loose capacity over the years ... normal behavior.

the battery is 6 month old.

If it is only 6 months old, then that is not normal behavior for a battery.
Mine if from April 2008 and I am at 80% of its original capacity.
Post back your result and we can take it from there.

hello again

My battery went completely empty, and now it wont charge at all, stuck in 5% and if I take of the charger
the computer simply dies..

I guess it's time to replace the battery ...

If it's only 6 months old, Isn't that covered by Apple Warranty.
Not sure ... maybe another member here is more up to speed with warranty issues.

It is a limited one year warranty based on this:
Apple Portables: Battery terminology and key concepts

It sounds like a faulty battery, which Apple will replace if they find that it actually is defective.
