i cannot play .avi files with perian(1.2). it used to work but now it says quicktime cannot play these types of files. vlc works to do it but i rather have a quicktime plugin than an entire application taking up space in my harddrive. anyone else have this problem? this is really annoying me

Are you using Snow Leopard? (you didn't say....) Snow Leopard installs Quicktime Player 10 which does not work the same as Quicktime Player 7.

However, unless you removed it, the Quicktime Player 7 app is still there but it's now located under Utilities and does not come up by default.

Also, what's wrong with using VLC? As large as hard drives are nowadays, how much space could it possibly be taking up?

Regards.

You'd have to install VLC 4,130 times to fill a 250GB drive. ;P
