I am pretty much a Mac nooblet so I will have plenty of these questions.

What is the difference between AIM and iChat? Is one better than the other? With Aim I can share files, pictures, etc. Can I do this with iChat? Also is iChat only for Mac to Mac computers or windows as well?

I use both, depending upon the mood that I'm in. Since iChat is an Apple application and AIM is, well, AIM, iChat can sometimes have small issues with AIM features (for example, I've sometimes had trouble sending links and images to AIM users from iChat). As long as the Windows user is using a compatible application, you can chat with them using either AIM or iChat.
