It comes with 256mb in both memory banks.

Best bet is to just drop the $ for two 1gb sticks of ram, for each slot.

That is what I plan on doing with my new Mac Mini.

And come a month or two...

A T7200 Merom cpu upgrade

It's my personal avatar from another forum.

Someone randomly gave me it one day.

Does the chipset do some kind of interleaving with 2 sticks? I'd like to just buy a 1gig for now, and maybe another in the future when my budget allows, would I kill some performance by running 1 stick?

They use dual channel RAM. Better stick with two identical chips.

Just upgraded to 2GB today!

Well worth the $240 ($220 after mail-in rebate) for the two 1GB sticks.

From the local CompUSA no less.
