OSX 10.9.2.

When I try to delete an application I don't use, I'm asked to enter a password. I don't seem to remember this password. How do I reset this password?

The password it's asking for is your administrator password - the one you set when you first setup your computer. If you've forgotten it, the only way to reset it is by using Recovery Mode.

Reboot the computer by holding down the Command + r keys. After the machine reboots to recovery, select "Utilities". Then select "Terminal".

When the Terminal opens type this in at the prompt:

resetpassword

Press enter and then follow directions.
