Hello Good People!

Here is a question that is certainly not critical, but is more of a curiosity.

I use OS X 10.6.8 (so far, anyway) and Safari 5.1.10. When I reset Safari or empty the cache by using
Safari- Reset (all boxes checked) or Safari-Empty Cache, a look at Finder shows that the files in
My User NameLibrary/Safari/Local Storage either are not gone or are gone & magically reappear next time I open Safari To me, this is no big deal. I suppose it is a Safari quirk or something.

But one file always re-appears in My User Name/Library/Safari/Local Storage. It is
http_www.youtube.com_0.localstorage

What I find odd is that I rarely, if ever, go to You tube (maybe once a month at most).

I don't have to go to you tube to have the file re-appear. Actually, i don't have to go to any site-just open Safari. Where does this file come from & what is putting it there?

Sometimes one with the word Facebook in the title is also there. I have never gone to Facebook & don't have an account. Goofy , huh?

Thanks for any ideas!
Paul

A Safari reset does not remove history Meta Data. If you think otherwise, navigate to this folder:

Macintosh HD/Users/your name/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/History/

This might be tied to an extension which leverages YouTube somehow. What extensions do you have installed?

Not as goofy as you may want it to be. Facebook is integrated into a whole collection of websites (including the one you're looking at right now). This could be responsible for this.

Thanks for answering guys!

I looked in Macintosh HD/Users/your name/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/History/

At first look-
There were just 4 files in the folder. They all had this forum in the name and are time stamped within a few minutes of when I looked.
Next, I reset Safari, closed it and the files were gone.
I logged back in and the folder re-populated. (This forum's files)

I also went to Safari - Preferences - Extensions. The list is empty.
