iPod Shuffle 2nd Generation Problems

I found my iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen earlier and thought I'd try get it working since I dropped my previous iPod in the hot tub, but when I plugged it into the mac, nothing shows up at all on the mac, yet it says it's still charging? How can I sort this out? I've never plugged it into a mac, but it has been on a previous windows computer. Cheers.
