MacBook Software update help Please!

Hello i am new to this forum. I am a proud owner of a Black Macbook 2.2ghz purchased in March of 2008. Im having problems downloading the annual software update. Everytime it pops up it says a restart is needed to complete the update. So i press ok to restart and after about 15 seconds it says, restart failed could not quit software update. I dont know why this is doing this but i haven't been able to update anything in about 2 months so i felt obligated to get help. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

If you've been using the online updater it might be worth doing a fresh restart then downloading the standalone update from the leopard support site and try to install that.
