In Finder's view tab, you can choose to arrange a folder's items by name, but the next time you put or save another file into that folder, it messes up the alphabetized order and you must go to the view tab to alphabetize again.

Is there any way to make alphabetizing a default in all folders? Or can I somehow set Automater or something to do this once a week?

Sorry to be so anal, but I do like my folders in order.

i'm guessing you're in icon view?

so if you right click in the folder and select "show view options", then select "keep arranged by", that doesn't do it for you?

That did it! Thanks. I didn't know about that. I'm still unlearning Windows.

Thanks again. What a great resource you've put together. I learned many more things I was curious about.
