I have the Kindle app installed on my iMac and Macbook Pro. I created a "Collection" on my iMac. Now in the Kindle app on my Macbook, I click the + next to Collections, and select "Import Collections". I then see "Bernard's Kindle for Mac", check it, then click the Import button. But nothing happens.

Is it possible to sync pdf files between macs?

I think Kindle only sync items bought via the kindle app. They won't sync content you've added yourself.

You could always sync using a service like Dropbox but read in them in the Kindle app

That's correct. I use the Kindle app quite often and unless you purchased those items from the Amazon store as Kindle downloads, they won't sync.

Wow, really? Score one for iBooks, I guess. That's ... well, dumb. Hopefully Amazon will fix that at some point.
