itunes songs

dumb question...never bought a song yet...but when i do...do you own the song?..ie. napster you rent songs but when you quit membership then you lose the song in the mp3 player...what about itunes?

iTunes fairplay DRM is certainly better than Microsofts DRM for music. I think it lets you use the song on up to 5 devices, and you can vary these 5 at any time.

Once bought they are yours, and itunes will still let you move them about even if you haven't bought any music from them for a while

having said that, Apple are keen to market non DRM music, since they argue that DRM doesn't stop the pirates but just hampers legit users
