line spacing in Mail

Mysteriously, the line spacing changed from what I thought was a decent looking single spacing to virtually no spacing in a recent, rather long e-mail I was writing. I tried adjusting the font size etc to no avail.
Any suggestions?

Your Mac's Specs
27" iMac & 16" MacBook Pro (Intel)
You could try changing between Rich Text and Plain Text and see if that helps.
