• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I recently purchased a sony hdr-cx160 digital camcorder and now i would like to start making and editing short videos of my grandkids and family. After some research I was told that the macbook pro would be my best choice. My question is would the macbook pro 13.3 inch with i5, 4gb memory and 320 gb hard drive be a good choice as this unit is currently in my price range and also is small enough to travel with. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forums.
Yes and yes. For what you want to do that will suffice. But have you checked out the Refurbished Mac Computers - Refurbished Laptops, Notebooks & Desktop Computers - Apple Store (U.S.) where you could even get the 15" if its around your price range. I see one there for 1269 a saving of $530.
A lot of people go the refurb way as you get the same warranty and telephone support as buying it new. And these things are basically new. You can't tell at all.

Something to think about bc the screen real estate would be a little added bonus.
But the 13" will do above and beyond what you want.

HTH

Cheers
