ok, so I need to "redo" my laptop, and I really need to keep all of bookmarks, and personal files on my computer. I am just wondering the best way to go about this? I COULD use time machine to backup my computer right, and then just get stuff off of it later that I need (after I redo it)? Or should I just make a disk image of my laptop, and save it on an external somewhere? I really only want to keep my documents, bookmarks, etc. Any ideas, or experience with this? thanks all.

If you have an external hard drive, the easiest and least expensive way would be to use Time Machine to back everything up and then later restore what you need.

Regards.
