iMac G3 not booting OS 9 install cd

Hi,

I recently tried to boot the OS 9 Retail CD on my iMac G3 (slot-loading), but have hit a snag. When I press "c" to boot, it goes to a gray screen for a little while but then boots into OSX. I have tried to boot the cd from "options", resetting the PRAM, etc. What could be wrong?

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Is your Classic OS 9 disc a retail version and not one from a different computer? And are you putting the CD in, rebooting and holding down 'C' immediately after the chime until it starts?

Yes, I pressed c at start, and it is a retail cd.
