Hey guys...If my friend and I both have AirPort equipped powerbook G4's, is there anyway to set up a wreless LAN bewteen us without a router (other than bluetooth)? It seems plausible. If the nintendo DS can communicate over 802.11, why not two macs??

Yup.

On one of the PowerBooks, open System Preferences. Open the Network pane, select AirPort, and check the checkbox to "Allow this computer to create networks." Connect to that network from the other PowerBook, and you're in business.

You can also turn an AirPort-equipped Mac into a base station in the Sharing pane (Internet tab.)
