Hi everyone, I'm new and a first time poster, hopefully someone can help me. At work we use a Mac to host our groups intranet. Currently people use FTP to upload new files to this machine which are then viewed through a web browser.

Everytime a new file is uploaded the default permissions are the following:

-rw-r-----

This makes the file unviewable via a web browser. I can manually change the permissions every time a new file is uploaded but I want to know if there is a way to set a new default permission set for uploaded files. Changing file permissions gets old after a while :)

I've search on the web but haven't found many solutions. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

You can try changing the umask for the user account that you are using to ftp too.

A similar solution the other way around would be to add the user the Apache process is running as to the same group as the users.
