I have a Macbook that I bought in 2008 and am currently running Tiger, 10.4.11 and I am trying to install Snow Leopard with no success. I insert the CD, does not load or show up on the desktop. I tried to restart the comp while holding down C and nothing happens. I have been reading about firmware and I am not sure if I need to update that? I bought the mac box set if that helps. Any ideas???

Have you inserted any other discs to make sure your drive is working?

Check to see if the 10.6 DVD is dirty. This is a brand new copy from Apple correct?

If so and everything else reads but the 10.6 DVD, take it back and ask for a new DVD.

You keep referring to your Snow Leopard disk as a "CD." It is a DVD, not a CD. Do other DVDs play properly in your drive?

Are you sure you can install/upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6 from Tiger 10.4?
I had to install Leopard 10.5 first.

Hope this helps.
