Broken latch?

So, it looks like the latch on my 15" PowerBook has had it.

At first, I thought the magnet was simply too weak, so I recharged it but no luck.

Now, upon further investigation, it looks like a tiny metal piece has broken off from the keyboard side of the latch although I'm not sure where it's come from. The hook still comes down and is drawn toward the magnet, but there's nowhere for it to latch.

If I don't find a suggestion that works, I was wondering if someone could take a photo of their (working) latch so I can try an see exactly what piece is broken.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you've broken the catch that the hook...well, hooks into. Normally, this part slides inward when you push the button to release the hook.
