MacBook to Monitor capabilites

Hey this is my first post on this forum. Was hoping I could get some answers here.
I have a MacBook (10.6.5). I wanted to purchase a Apple Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter to hook into my 23" monitor. In addition I wanted to buy the wireless magic mouse and a wireless keyboard so my MacBook can act as my hard drive. Will all of this work together? Also, would I be able to actually close the MacBook and still use the monitor, mouse and keyboard without the MacBook falling asleep?... let me know! My current desktop is a crappy G4 and I need to dump it! thanks!

Everything should work. To use the Macbook with the lid closed...you use it in "Clamshell Mode"...here is the procedure:
