Safari wont open

My Safari wont open it will say its open but I cant see any page open, firefox and chrome open fine. When I click on history a grey window will open but nothing appears but my bookmarks. Any suggestion?

You've not given much to go on there.

It will "say" it's open? What does that mean? Describe what you see, 'cause we can't see it.

What Mac? What OS version? What Safari version? ...and anything else you know that we don't?

This is my iMac Desktop, running leopard, os x. When I click on safari to open nothing happens at the very top where the apple symbol is and file, edit, view ...bar is It say "Safari" which means its open. I click on file, then new window nothing happens so physically no window opens up.
