Hi,

I currently own a 2009 MBP, 2.53 Ghz core 2 Duo with 8 GB ram.

Considering upgrading to the i5 or i7... would there be significant increase in performance? If so, can I just upgrade the processor or would it be advisable jut to get a new MBP?

Since the CPU can not be upgraded, the only way is to purchase a new machine with the specs you desire.
