Hi,

There are certain websites that when I try to access, i get the message: "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at (website).com"

Some of the sites never work like
yahoo.com (I can still use the search bar)
ehow.com
and a few others.

Some sites sometimes work

Youtube.com
Google.com
gmail.com
and a large amount of others.

Here are some things I have done to try and fix it.

I switched to different browsers (firefox, safari, and chrome)

I did a virus scan with ClamXav and found no infected files

I deleted all browser history and cache as well as the dns cache.

I haven't changed any network settings.

I have tried on different wifi networks as well as tested the sites on my laptop with the same wifi network. My laptop can access those sites but my puter won't on any network.

If i use a proxy, I can access these sites however there is no reason my ip would be banned from them.

I tried changing to open dns, didn't help at all.

Anyone know how to fix this?

This is a shot in the dark but have you tried using a different user account on the computer that is causing the problem and see if you experience the same problems? If Things work from the "new" user account that would suggest a corrupted file might be the culprit.
