Yet another Macbook to TV question (sorry!)

Hey all,

Sorry that you have all heard this question a million times (I went through the sticky but still no joy) but I'm having problems connecting my late 2009 Macbook to my Sony Bravia kdl-32u3000. I have connected the two through Mini Displayport to HDMI (having tried a couple of HDMI cables) but I get nothing but a blank screen. I have looked in my display settings on my Macbook and it does not detect the screen. Anyone had similar issues?

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have gone through those with no luck, unfortunately. It shows no sign of detecting the Sony Bravia, and when I try detect display/mirror displays I just get a message saying that this is disabled as there is only one display detected.

You have tried on another TV & a different adapter? Since you have tried two different HDMI cables, I would be looking at the mdp to HDMI adapter as the culprit.

Yes, I have tried two different TVs, again with no luck. I had thought it was looking like the Mini Displayport to HDMI was the issue, but just wanted to check if anyone else had this issue with the late 09 Macbooks, in case I'd be better off going the Mini Display to VGA route?

VGA is an option since the '09 models do not support audio out through their mdp ports.

But personally, I'd give it another shot by trying another mdp to HDMI adapter myself. It is going to have a better picture and most TVs will accept a higher resolution via HDMI than they will via their VGA port. Although would have to check the owner's manual to verify that.

One more - have you checked the HDMI port you are using on the TV and is it labled as HDMI/DVI? Most TVs have only a single HDMI port set up specifically for a computer.
