.Mov can't play or convert?

I have this recording device called a dazzle and everytime I record with the dazzle it comes out a .mov file. I need it to be a .dv file but when I try to convert it the software says thats its unknown or corrupted. Also I cant view it on Quicktime. plz respond asap THX
