HDD capacity is way less?

MBP-2.5Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB, 250GB SATA, 8X Superdrive
I got a macbook air with 800 gig HDD this friday and noticed that the available free space is just 56gig. 24 gig for leopard and the apps? Please tell me that there is more space somewhere.

sounds about right, i got mine with 250 and only had 230 avil, thats how it is.

Likely not. 80 GB is the raw capacity. Once formatted, it is usually quite a bit less, I would guess 74 GB or so. Then Leopard and apps will chew up a nice bit. I think your 56 GB is probably about right.

Yep that's how it is. 120gb came with 111gb. Then with the OS and preinstalled drivers and software it left me with around 92gb.
