HELP! macbook won't recognize a CD

so i grabbed "Now thats what i call christmas vol 3." today in the store, come home, pop it in my mac, and it makes a bunch of noise but then spits it back out.

edit: i tried this with some older CDs and it doesn't recognize them either... any help?

have you tried to reboot?

has the drive ever worked?

ive definitely watched DVDs on it, and im about 90% sure ive burned CDs on it before too.

when you say reboot, do you mean just turn it off/turn it back on again? or something different?

yeah, shut it down normally, then power it back up.

once logged on, try loading a cd again.

didnt work. im gonna call apple in the morning, i looked on the website but couldnt find any updates for the cdrom drive. anything else to try and do?
