I would like to be able to run Windows via bootcamp on my Macbook Pro, but i want to have the max amount of space left on my Mac side for Final Cut Studio. I was wondering if there was a way that i could get an external hard drive, and run Windows from that. Someone told me tat it wouldn't work though, so is there a way that i could just have the core of Windows installed, and have all the programs on the hard drive? And if so, what's the minimum amount of spce needed on the Mac?

I don't think that's possible with Bootcamp. You may be able to do that with Parallels or VMWare Fusion but those aren't free.
