disabling password log in

MacBook Pro 17" LED-Backlite display, 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB memory, 512MB VRAM, 320GB HD
so I've had my security preferences set on "disable automatic log in" for years now...I just recently unchecked that selection as to allow my imac to log in without a password however, it still asks for a password in order to sign in...why is this? am I missing something?

try the Accounts prefs, there is a button Login Options right beneath the list of users

thanks! I just realized I missed this option because it was grayed out, the change settings was locked.
