mini dvi to dvi not displaying

hey guys, well my issue is that when i connect the mini dvi to the dvi and plug the display port into my sis new macbook it seems like its very sensitive. i tried doing some searching but couldnt find any issues. the screen will go blue like its going to display on the monitor she has it connected to and then goes back to her desktop. i had it working when we first got it but now it seems like it just wants to go to a blue screen like its connecting then drops the connection to the monitor.

i checked the ends on both of them and nothings bent and the connection is nice and tight...anyone got and ideas? :[

You are trying to connect the MacBook to what... a monitor... a TV?
What is the make and model #.
Which model MacBook is this?
What cable and/or adapter are you using?

What does display port have to do with mini-DVI to DVI?
