I used to use a tool called Snippit to capture a desired webpage section, save it to My Photos and use later. I don't see any reference to such a tool for Mac Pro. Does anyone know of such a tool?

I use Jing for similar purposes. There's another similar tool called Skitch.

Also note that in OS X, you can typically click to select an image on a webpage and then drag it to your desktop to save it as a file. You can do the same with text if you highlight it and drag it.

Use command shift 4 then draw around the item you want to keep with the curser. The png format copy will be on your desktop .
Open in preview if you want to save in a different format.
command shift 3 will give you a screen shot.
