Ok I'm out of ideas :(

Ive searched the forums, spent hours on version tracker, download.com and I cannot for the life of me find a good video converter for .wmv -> .avi, .mp4 etc

I've tried ffmpeg, however its not working for me.
I'll drag + drop the file, hit encode, and after about 3 seconds its done.
I know this isnt right. So when I try to open the file, nothing happens because the file size reads "0 bytes".

Can anyone suggest a video converter that suits my needs?
Or maybe someone that knows what I'm doing wrong with ffmpeg?

BTW, I'm running an intel dual core 1.83 Ghz mac mini. 1GB of ram, 10.4.7 Tiger

To add to virtuoso's post, I love iSquint. It works great for me.

VersionTracker link just sends you to the main site which does not contain the download. However, MacUpdate link still works, go here:

Another vote for iSquint although it'll only convert to mp4

If you want more output options then look to Visual Hub, it's commercial Big Brother.

I vote for ffmpegX, since it will convert just about any format that comes to mind to just about any other format. And unlike Visual Hub, it doesn't cost money unless you register, and eve then it would be much less.

+1 for Visual Hub. It is commercial but it's worth the money IMHO. You can convert pretty much any file format to another. you can also burn them to DVD if you want. I believe it's only like $20 or something like that.

Another vote for Visual Hub. It's definitely worth the money. I haven't used any other app for a while since getting it.

I guess I should have noted in my first post, I'm running 10.4.7 Tiger, so is there any version of isquint still up for download that will work?

Discerptor: I've tried ffmpeg, however it will convert for 3 seconds then stop and say that its complete. However when I go to the "converted" file, the size reads "0 bytes"

Something is not right..

Did you point ffmpeg to a fully functional mencoder, etc. for your architecture when you first installed it?

Not too sure what you mean...
I installed it a few weeks ago and i've completely forgotten what I did

If you remember, can you post up the steps I should take?
I remember there being some steps where I had to download and locate extra files in order for it to run properly
