MIDI files from Roland to Cubase

I am running Cubase SX on a Mac Pro, and was wondering whether or not it would be possible to simply transfer a MIDI file from my Roland KR-577 piano, through a Mackie Universal Control Pro and into Cubase to alter them natively there. I understand that the sounds may be different, but it would save doing it through phono and spending excessive time. Has anyone else done this, or is it even possible?
