If I want to buy the 3.6 i5 iMac, would I need to purchase it online or could I purchase it in an Apple Store?

So apple stores have i5's in the store? It's not like best buy and you can only purchase basic iMacs (i3s)?

Congratulations on joining the Mac family.

I went the refurb route with my latest Mac. A few advantages of doing it this way are:-

1: An almost brand new iMac
2: A few hundred pounds (dollars) less than a new one.
3: You might get more than the spec lists (I got a 2TB HD when the spec listed 1TB)

Its entirely up to you though.

Let us know how it goes. Ill be upgrading my iMac when they refresh it again. Only had a couple small issues in the past, I got an iMac 10,1 back in November of 2009. Never realized I had the screen tint issue, and since I had such good luck with my first iMac, I didn't get Apple care on it, so I'm out of luck now.

The Apple Stores have all the "stock" models. If you wanted a custom configuration...probably better to order from Apple.com.

Enjoy,:)

Thinking0buying-iMac

All new Macs come with OS X 10.6.x installed as well as iLife which has iPhoto,iWeb, iMovie, iDVD and Garageband (a music program). These are a good deal. They work very well and are much better than the usual junk a pc comes with. These are programs that you can use! I find iPhoto very useful for converting those old photos you have stored in shoeboxes to digital and making smll corrections for exposure, etc. The HDD in the iMacs are fairly large so space is not a problem. Any iMac will serve you well for many years to ome. I'm still using my iMac Core Duo 2.0 GHz bought in 2006. Lets us know whatyou do and good luck! Welcome to the Mac family.

1-3 days to process the order, since it is a custom order, and then the shipping time. The base models usually ship within 24 hours.
