DirectoryService Process

Hi,
I've been using Leopard for a while now, and one of the main problems with it is that my macbook (core duo, 1.25Gb RAM) keeps heating up repeatedly, when I'm not running ANYTHING!
Then I decided to check activity monitor, and sure enough this administrative process 'DirectoryService' was using over 100% of the CPU continuously. I killed the process and my problem was solved for the time being, as the computer cooled down and the process restarted automatically.
This problem of this particular process running wild is happening repeatedly though, with that same 'DirectoryService' process only.
Any idea why its happening? Or how I can stop it from happening?

Closer than you think.

Open Console.app

Look in /Library/Logs/DirectoryService

This may give you a clue as to my it is wigging out.

Out of curiosity, was it an upgrade from Tiger? Do you connect to network shares or a server?

I have upgraded from Tiger to Leopard, but everything else works fine. I did the erase and install option by backing up my data and then restoring it once Leopard was installed. I've had no other problems though.
Working at home all I use is my wireless router (using airport) to connect to the internet and occasionally I connect to the same router using an ethernet cable. I also sometimes access the other mac and PC which are connected to the same router to transfer files and stuff.

Thanks so much for helping!

The log won't tell me much without the errors.
