It's a Terminal drop down view...
If you use the Terminal much, this is great... Instead of going into the applications each time to open the terminal and have the terminal window pop-up, I can now hit the "home" key (I set it as the hotkey), and the Terminal window "slides" out of the menu bar ready to enter commands.

Very convenient.

heh. i thought one of the many benefits to moving from windows was not needing to open a cmd window anymore.
