If i'm buying a mac and getting the educational discount, do i need to have my own credit card, or am i able to use my dads? I don't want the school or apple or whoever does that to check it and see that it isn't my name and not give me the deal...anyone know how that works? thanks for any input

You should no problem, but Apple will check to see if you are a student of the given school. I have purchased two laptop from the Apple on-line store using my wife's education discount.

If you purchase from the on-line store, you place the order in your name and pay with your father's credit card. If you go the Apple brick and mortar store the you show your student id to the salesman and your father pays for the purchase.
