Is there a way I can keep my iPhone 4 on (in order to make calls) but have all incoming calls automatically go to Voicemail without ringing several times? TIA.

I don't believe there is a "do not disturb" mode for the iPhone. You can setup call forwarding to send all of your calls to another number..but then you'd miss the voicemail too..

Set up a Google voice account and give that number out. You can go into Google and set a do not disturb on your line

yes you can, set call forwarding to go to the voice mail system. in the settings in the phone somewhere is the voice mail #, just use that as the forward to #.
