Hey there,
I am trying to disable the firmware password on the macbook pro so I can boot with the control-c combination. This is an Intel mac and I have a few questions. I am trying to disable it by using the install DVD and opening the firmware password utility found on the DVD. I tried a terminal command that starts as follows: open Volumes/Mac bla bla and IT IS NOT WORKING. How do you find this ulitity without using Terminal? I need help!
The reason I am trying to do this is because I forgot the administrator password and I want to make a new administrator account and I need to remove this firmware password, which I know. Also is there another way to get rid of this password without having to change the RAM?
Thanks for the help!!!

Have you read through the following Apple KB article regarding setting a firmware password? Link

You MUST boot with your install DVD and use the Firmware Password Utility from Utilities. Once you reach the Firmware Password dialog box, you type in your password. Then, instead of resetting it, leave it blank. That will remove the firmware password.

By the way, you can't reset a firmware password by changing the RAM.

Regards.
