Apps won't save file to recent folder?

My applications used to save my file to the previous location of the last file now all my apps just recently started going to a documents folder even after i save a file in a specific folder - it really causes a lot of work when saving about 300 files a day in photoshop... anyone have a clue what might have caused this... a deleted preference file?

same issue

I just came across your thread as I am having the same issue. Whether it is exporting video clips from MPEG Streamclip, or saving Word docs, or saving photoshop images. Mine all seem to default to the Desktop but used to default to the last used folder, which was much more convenient. Really starting to drive me crazy.
