Help!

I recently got an iPod origanly desinged for mac. I baught it from somone and tried to use it on my PC. I formated the whole iPod on accident and cannot recover anything form it. I have tried installing a softwear update but got an error message.
PLEASE HELP WITH ANY SUGGESTIONS
