Can the New iMac take the new NvidIA?

Bought the new Imac... 2.8 with the ATI 2600 hd pro... Can the Nvidia be swapped ???? Thank You...

Short answer, No. Long answer, Maybe. It depends on what kind of socket the iMac logic board uses to connect the mobile graphics chipset. It may even be soldered on the logic board. It's probably not worth your time or money, not to mention it would void the warranty.

I was also wondering this, so I phoned apple care.

To make a long story short, the apple care phone operator told me it was possible, but obviously you would need to let an authorized apple shop do it.

I plan on getting the new card [if its possible] when I leave my iMac in to get the screen fixed.

Oh I didn't know this. I thought the imacs were closed in relation to graphics upgrading.

So would all the intel C2D imacs be able to upgrade their graphics cards or only the new alu ones?

Well I don't know for sure, but I would say just the alum' ones, as the design of the new iMac and brand new iMac (the alum' ones) looks the same.

And they are still closed in that a user cant do it themselves, its an apple job.

I have the New 2.8 with the 2g of mem... But it has the ATI Radeon 2600 hd pro.... I was wondering if the Nvidia can be installed...
