Before I insert a mini-CD into my iMac system DVD drive (vertical drive) I would like to ask if the drive will accept it?
Thanks

Define accept it...
It could fit in there easily but it wouldn't mount properly to be read and getting it out will be a pain because it wouldn't never eject properly.
Mini CDs/ DVDs are for tray drives only.

Ahh glad I saw this - not that I was planning on it but my new LG cell phone has one of those mini cds but its only for windows platforms. It did make me think if the slot loading drive would accept a mini disc. Cheers :)

Well supposedly you can get an attachment that goes around the cd making it the normal 12 cm size. And the cd drive will read it. I've never tried it though.

Seriously if the Wii can read both sizes, then why hasn't apple opt a similar thing in their products.

well thats obviously not true. seeing as how the Wii can take gamecube games whilst standing (gamecube games are the same size as mini cd's) and the wii use's a slot loading drive.

The Wii must have a second arm that is able to push the mini CD out. The Mac optical drive has only one arm that pushes a standard disc out. It wouldn't ever reach the mini CD to eject it.
