I have an internal 250 Gb hard drive in my iMac g3 and the computer only recognizes 125 Gb of that HD. Why is that and if I put that HD in an external case would it recognize all 250 Gb's of it? What if I put that HD in an external case and bought a 125 Gb HD to put internally that would mean that I hve 375 Gb's of storage space which for me is plenty.

Answer to the first part of your question:
iMacs do not have big drive support. That means that it will only recognize 128 Gb of hard drive space on any drive over 125 Gb. Here is a link to a better explenation.

Second part:
Your iMac only has USB 1.1, so things would run very slowly. But as long as you get a hard drive enclosure that supports big drives, you would be fine.
