I have a WD 500GB drive that came with a peice of software called WD Anywhere Backup. It works great, no complaints.

Here's my question though. It always backs up files but it never deletes them from the drive. That's fine, but what happens if I end up needing to restore my iMac from the external drive? I don't want to sift through 6 versions of each file on my external drive to find the one I want.

How do you get around this?

Isn't there an option in the software for you to write over older files when doing back ups?

Perhaps...I'll check it out.

Don't I want to store a few versions of each file though? That way if I botch one I can restore it to the one I want.
