I have a Mac Book Pro. I left the charger plugged in w/the laptop off. when I turned it on it was fully charged, & it seems to be fine. I've heard this is a bad thing to do. What damage can it do?

Thanks, Justin

Sounds like a normal situation to me...pretty much what I do with my MBP all the time.

Mac book battery

I've heard that you should only charge it w/the laptop on. Is that true, or does it matter?

Never heard it has to be left on and "the book " say nothing of the kind. You fine and so is your machine.

Agreed, this is very normal use and will not impact your battery adversely in the slightest.

Who comes up with all these battery myths??

Urban legends. The more popular notebooks get, particularly with the under-18 crowd, the more prolific they'll be.

You read my mind! They're probably caused by folks hanging out at "mediocre" Macintosh forums!

Then folks come here for the straight truth!!!:)

This isn't a mediocre Mac forum? :p OH BURN! Hehe.

The people who come up with all these battery myths are probably the same people who ensure that the world is 95% bull crap all the time.

Way... way too many specs to list.
Combine that with a lack of basic understanding of how electricity, and batteries in general, work and well.. yea.. nothing but rumors abound.

I should be insulted come to think of it. From these rumors you'd think that engineers aren't smart enough to figure out that people leave things plugged in.
