External Harddrive not recognized anymore?

So I upgraded to Leopard, and noticed that now my external harddrive isn't recognized when I plugged it in tonight. The only thing that recognizes it is the system profiler, but I can't access the actual drive anymore.

Any suggestions?

can you see the external under the disk utility and if so, try and run first aid on the disk

Could be the password protection...I had to reformat mine in order to get Leopard to recognize it. Some have said to hook up to a mac running Tiger in order to remove the password permissions...I backed mine up to one of my macs and reformatted it and than put my files back on to it afterwards...
